How do I book a room?

You can book a room after reading our room policy on our website HERE. Note that COVID-19 restrictions will affect our ability to accept room reservations.

 

Do you have private study rooms?

We do not currently have private study rooms, however you are welcome to use the tables on the main floor.

 

Do you have a fax machine?

We do have a fax machine that is self-service and requires a debit/credit card for use. The fee is $1.75 for the first page and $1 for each page after that to fax numbers within the USA, Canada, and the Caribbean.

 

How many computers do you have?

We currently have 8 public computers available for use in the library.

 

Can I print from the computers?

Yes, we have a public printer release station; the charge is $0.15 for black and white copies, or $0.50 for color copies. We also offer mobile printing and more information is available here! Exact change is required as library staff cannot make change.

What time do you shut off the computers?

The computers automatically shut off 20 minutes before the library closes.

 

Do you have a quiet study area?

Yes, we have a Quiet Room located at the front of the library on the 2nd Floor, however it is currently unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions. We do offer free ear plugs at the desk though!

 

Do you have an AED machine?

Yes, we have an AED located by the stairs on the 2nd floor.

Where are bathrooms located?

Bathrooms are located on the 1st floor, across from the Children’s help desk, and on the 3rd floor. While the bathrooms are cleaned regularly, use them at your own risk.

 

What are your hours and when do they change?

The library's summer hours, which go into effect after Memorial Day, are: Monday-Wednesday, 9am-8pm and Thursday-Saturday, 9am to 5pm. 

The library's winter hours, which go into effect after Labor Day, are: Monday-Thursday, 9am-8pm and Friday-Saturday, 9am to 5pm. 

 

Do you have device-charging areas?

We have 5 charging stations with cables for both Apple and Android (USB-C and micro-B types).

 

Do you have a copier or scanner?

We have a copier that also functions as a scanner (to email or USB) located in the Children’s Room on the 1st Floor. Copy prices are $0.15 for black and white and $0.50 for color. Scanning is free of charge.

 

Do you have an ATM?

No, we used to. If you wish to pay overdue fines however you can do so with a card online in your account at: catalog.ocln.org

 

Where can I drop off books?

All library materials can be dropped off next to the back door in the metal book drop, or in the book drop slot next to the front door. 

What do your librarians do?

We pick out all of the great materials you check out, we plan programs for all ages, we participate in outreach events throughout the community, we teach classes, we assist you in your many reading and technology endeavors, and we LOVE doing it!

 

Do you accept book donations?

Yes, the Friends of the Turner Free Library accept gently used books as well as DVDs (no VHS please). Please leave donations in bin next to the Children's Help Desk.

 

What kinds of items can I check out with my library card?

EVERYTHING! Books, DVDs, Hotspots, Rokus, Fire Sticks, Xbox Controllers, Digital Materials, Audiobooks, VR Headsets, Sphero Robots, Kindles, and more!

 

How do I get a library card?

You must apply in person with a picture ID and proof of current address.

Do you have vending machines and is food allowed in the library?

We have vending machines located on the 1st Floor near the Children’s vestibule. Snacks and beverages are allowed everywhere in the library, but consuming hot food or meals with a strong odor is not. 

How old do I have to be to be at the library alone?

You must be at least 12 years old to use the library alone. For the safety of all, our policy is that children under the age of 12 must be within sight of their caregiver at all times while visiting the library.

Where can I find a list of everything you have?

We have upwards of 70,000 physical items and many more digital items which are always changing (we buy lots of new stuff for you)! We are unable to give you a complete list however you can search our catalog of items HERE with specific inquiries (or give us a call).

Do you have a public notary on staff?

No, but there is a notary in the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall. Click HERE for more info!
